South Sudan is a landlocked country in northeastern Africa that gained its independence from Sudan in 2011 and has a population of around 8.5 million people. Its current capital is Juba, which is also its largest city. (Wikipedia)

It is a region that suffers from ongoing civil unrest and displacement of people. South Sudanese follow traditional religions, while a minority are Christians. (BBC)It is in this environment that the Sisters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart are continuing to develop education, run health clinics and training, and develop clean water projects with the assistance of the MSC Mission Office.

Sr Rita Grunke OLSH recently sent us receipts and photographs such as this one from Pan Adwel Primary School where a Bore Hole and Pump were provided.
